Food and Nutrition class is finishing its fruit unit. One project was learning about how to use a knife to cut fruit and vegetables. Students also cut lemons for water and had a mini food photography lesson. They also made Furutsu Sandos — creative fruit sandwiches — from Japan. There is a special technique with creating the sandwiches — cutting on the diagonal to create a presentation of fruit and cream. The students also made fruit pizzas. All projects were created and made by the students.

High school students ventured down to the kindergarten classes to bring amazing lessons involving a story, planting vegetables, using the blender bike to make salsa and culminating with the eating of what they made together in recognition of Ag Literacy week. It was fabulous afternoon for the elementary kids and fun for the high school students as well. The younger students learn a lot and truly enjoyed interacting with 'the big kids'!
