The Livingston Manor and Roscoe Central School Wellness Teams will run a Middle/Elementary School Bike-A-Thon in support of Ride 2 Survive for all interested students in first through eighth grades from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the LMCS track.

There will be supervisors provided on a volunteer basis for the event, and parents and guardians should plan to be on hand to help supervise their children. Riders are asked to get to the school at 9:30 so the supervisors can check bikes and helmets and register participants.

Each rider must have their own bike. Riders must bring and wear a helmet that tightens and snaps around their head. They also must wear sneakers; no crocs, sandals or flip flops are allowed. Some drinks and fruit will be available to the students, however riders are encouraged to bring their own bottled water. If students do not have the proper safety equipment, they will not be able to participate. Bikes should be inspected before attending the event.

Proper behavior and good sportsmanship are expected from all the riders. Students not behaving properly will be asked to leave and will no longer be allowed to participate in the event.

Permission slips will be sent home with students. Any serious medical conditions, such as allergies, asthmatic, diabetes, heart condition, etc., should be listed on the slip. Any student who is excused from PE class is not eligible to participate. Permission slips should be returned to the child's physical education department by April 26.

Include any serious medical conditions on this permission slip that the staff should be aware of, i.e. allergies, asthmatic, diabetes, heart condition. Any student who is currently excused from PE class is not eligible for this event. Once the permission slip is received, fundraising information will be sent home with the student.
