Meet Mrs. Ryan

  •

Hello! My name is Lydia Ryan.  I love my job as a kindergarten teacher at the Livingston Manor Central School.  I began my teaching career in 1996, after graduating from SUNY New Paltz, with a degree and certification in elementary education. While working as head classroom teacher at Sullivan County Head Start, I earned my Master’s Degree and certification in Special Education.  In my teaching career I have had the pleasure of teaching pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first grade and second grade. I love teaching.  I feel it is the most important job in the world.  I wouldn’t want to do anything else for a living.

I believe that kindergarten is the most important grade in school.  Kindergarten is the first step in a lifelong learning adventure. It is a time of wonderful new beginnings.  A place where children develop positive or negative attitudes about school and their own learning abilities.  Kindergarten is such a wonderful place.  All of our days are filled with new and different learning experiences from learning the letters of the alphabet to learning how to be a good friend and citizen.

I am committed to making my student’s kindergarten experience a positive and successful one.  I strive toward making each learning experience memorable, meaningful, fun, and attainable by all students despite each child’s developmental differences.

It is my belief that all children can be successful learners.  We all learn in our own way.  Each child who enters my classroom door begins with his or her own knowledge, skills and understanding of the world.  My job is to build on what each child already knows when they enter my classroom and move them forward at their own individual pace.  It is imperative to keep in mind that children do not experience success in the same manner, at the same rate, nor on the same level. Even though children learn differently, they CAN all LEARN!

I am committed to making your child’s kindergarten experience a successful and exciting adventure in learning.  This year we will work to build a solid foundation for a lifetime love of learning.

I am excited about the upcoming year and can't wait to get started. Feel free to call me at school, send an e-mail, or write a note if you have any questions or concerns.

I look forward to working with you and your child.
