Welcome to English 11
English 11 is a piviotal year for High School English students as it encompasses the New York State Common Core regents which students must pass in order to get their diploma.
Another objective of English 11 is to explore important American writers.
Students will read, discuss, and analyze works of prose from authors including (but not limited to):
- John Smith, Mark Twain, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Washington Irving, Edgar Allan Poe, William Faulkner, Kate Chopin, Katherine Porter, Ambrose Bierce, Emily Dickinson, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Additionally, curriculum will focus on the writing process including text-analysis, argumentative essay, drafting, revising, and grammar practices.
